If you are aggrieved with a planning decision, as applicants you can appeal to the Secretary of State – in the form of the Planning Inspectorate (PINS). The Planning Inspector appointed to each case acts as an independent arbiter who will weigh both sides of the argument. Householder appeals are often relatively straightforward but this is a specialised area of the planning process, requiring expertise and experience to have the best chance of a good outcome.
